Fair copy transcription of a series of letters to his sister, Mary, with a table of contents, suggesting that the author intended this for publication. Lamson set out on horseback from Lubec, Maine, and provides detailed description of the places and people seen and met along the way: St. Charles; description of a hermit in the woods and his dwelling; Ste. Marie; description of the French Canadians--their houses and farms; Québec--the city and nearby waterfalls; Montréal--nuns and soldiers commented on; public buildings of Montréal; a ride through the White Mountains.
